“Just minutes after gelding this young colt, one of the cowboys assures him it is not the end of the world.”

Cowboy is Dan Schleigh befriending a colt that turned out to be a true outlaw.  This was one of the few times he wasn’t trying to kill someone.

“In 1936 Floyd Charley started the first 4-h Beef club in Jackson County, Oregon with a hand full of local ranchers kids.  One of those seven little boys was Charles Stanley, who went on to become a long time cattle rancher in the area.  “Uncle Charley” as he is known to just about everybody, kept every kid around on the top side of their horses, out of trouble and maybe even alive in some cases.  In this drawing, it is Uncle Charley’s hand that is reaching down to Wade Perry, the Great, Great Grandson of Floyd Charley.”
