“Sycan Sunrise”
Original oil by Teresa Schleigh
“This epic scene begins a day that will be no less grand. As the cow boss was heard saying as his crew of twelve headed out in a long trot, “I wonder how many people in this world would give everything they own to be riding out with us this morning?” (Ray McLaughlin)
Scene is the Sycan Marsh on the ZX Ranch, Paisley Oregon. At the
time of this scene it was the largest ranch in Oregon, running some
10,000 mother cows.
